This Classical composers time-line presents in graphic form those people who are generally held^{[by whom?]} to be the most important composers of Classical music since the middle of the 15th century. The labels used are the traditional ones, and in the case of "Modernist" and "Postmodernist" refer to the prevalent movements occuring in all the arts at the time rather than to the individual works of the composers so styled. Some composers were generally writing in earlier styles and are thus labelled with that style.
